Thou Shall Not Tell A Lie

"Our economy is blooming!"
A line I find no offense
But also sort of bit nonsense
And an act of self-defense.

There's nothing wrong to dream
But to tell a lie is a grim
There's no chance of concealing the truth
For behind the bars of poverty we are caught.

As peso and dollars keep rolling
Like angry flash of thunder and lightning
I still keep on seeking and waiting
For the visibility of the uttered word,
"Our economy is blooming!"

Theology classes taught me the 8th commandment
Hammering our heads with enlightenment
When I heard that line
I just made a deep sigh
For my professor once said,
"Thou shall not tell a lie."
